Happy Ever After's

If happy ever after's did exist,
I wouldn't be living like this.
At the end of every day,
I only dread what I will wake to.

Looking around these dark streets,
Looking around at the sea of stars,
I look for the starting line to the end.
They say it will get better,
But I've seen no change.

It's an uphill battle,
That is true,
But to those who know what I mean,
It takes a long time to climb Mt. Everest.
